Dorothy French Obituary

Dorothy M (Hunt) French passed away 9/28/25 at Green Acres Assisted Living Facility in Manistee MI. She was 93. She was born 12/25/31 in Nashua, IA to George & Gladys Hunt. She was the youngest of 4 children.

She attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, IA. She worked as a secretary for Northrup King Seed where she met her future husband. On 5/29/57, she married Elden French, beginning a life filled with golfing, & fishing trips to the family's summer cabin in MN. On occasion, she worked as a legal secretary for Waterloo law firms when called upon. She enjoyed church activities & mall walking with friends. Dorothy is remembered for her hospitality & sense of humor, endearing her to all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Wendell Hunt & Donald (Buzz) Hunt, a sister Charlotte Taylor, stepson Stafford French, & a nephew. She is survived by her daughters Allison French & Catherine French, 6 Grandchildren: Cassandra, Joshua, Nicholas, Benjamin, Garrett, & Campbell; 2 Great Grandchildren, 4 nieces & 1 nephew.

A small private family gathering will be held at a later date.

I saw Dorothy in her home showing Avon. She was always friendly and welcoming. Her daughters were sometime thereto visit with. This was in the late 70s- early80s. Great picture of her Maxine
