Gerry Gress Obituary

Gerry Gress

February 6, 2025

Gerry Gress, 84, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2025, in Waverly, surrounded by family.

Born in Cedar Falls in 1941, Gerry lived a life full of appreciation for the great outdoors. His passions for fishing, hunting ,trapping and camping defined much of his time. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Judy, and a caring father to his three daughters: Kelly, Shan, and Dawn. Gerry's family was the heart of his world, and he took immense pride in his 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gerry's professional journey began as an art and driver's education teacher before he transitioned to Viking Pump, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2003.

A true outdoorsman, Gerry left behind a legacy of conservation and knowledge of the natural world. In his later years, he remained active with fishing and hunting, and he was always eager to share book recommendations. Sports were another passion of his, whether playing or cheering on his children and grandchildren during their athletic pursuits.

A private graveside service and dinner in Gerry's honor will take place on February 16th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gerry's name can be made to Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
