John Nagel Obituary

John (Jack) Walter Nagel age 76 of Elk Run Heights, Iowa passed November 20, 2023, at the U of I Medical Center due to complications of sepsis.

Jack was born August 3, 1947, the son of Water and Ruth (Bloxham) Nagel. Jack grew up in Casebeer Heights in Evansdale, Iowa, graduating from Waterloo East High School in 1965 and went on to become a lifelong Journeyman Electrician and a proud member of the UAW Local 288 Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 40 years.

Jack married Cynthia K. (Larson) Nagel on October 12, 2002, and made a life together in Elk Run Heights until his passing, in the home that he and his close family and friends built.

Jack was a motorcycle enthusiast and many knew of his bumblebee yellow Gold Wing he loved to ride until sidelined by chronic back issues. He especially enjoyed pan and fly fishing and almost enjoyed eating them as much as catching them. He had a passion for camping and the outdoors, the smell of fresh mown grass and hay but was the happiest leaning against a shaggy bark hickory, hunting squirrel, or sitting in a deer stand in the woods on a crisp autumn morning. His booming voice around a campfire telling stories and the laughter of old friends from those times will forever be missed.

Jack was preceded in death by both his parents, Walter and Ruth Nagel, brother Jerry, and two sisters Karen (Edward) Parsons, Patsy (Ralph) Fowlkes.

Survived by his wife Cindy, two sons Trepp (Sally), Tyce (Evie) Nagel, two step-children Adam (Selena) Myers, Angela (Myers) Weber, 6 grandchildren, Briley, Tyce (LT), Sydney and Jaydon Nagel, Bianca Myers and Autumn Weber, 3 step-grandchildren, Ruby, Sela and Jesse Kline and two great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Mila. Jack was extremely close with much of his family particularly Patty and Aaron Nagel and Shawn (Harry) Burk.

Please plan to join the family to celebrate Jack and a life well lived on June 22, 2024, 11:00 - 4:00, 3710 S. Raymond Road, exit #66 from I-380. A luncheon will be served following fellowship.

I grew up with Jack. Went to church at St. Paul's together. I believe my Mom taught him at Elk Run School. We played football together at McKinstry. He was always one of the good guys. Always will be. God Bless ! Steve Eagle

Don and I sat around the campfire in April so I remember his stories. Our son Chad Pritchett and Tyce spent time together. So sorry for your family. You will be our thoughts
