Lorraine "Peg" LaVerle Schultz

February 15, 1937 - October 16, 2025

Lorraine "Peg" LaVerle Schultz, 88, of Cedar Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly while in Hospice. Peg was born on February 15, 1937, in Clermont, the daughter of Willard and Marie (Johnson) Martin, Sr. She was baptized April 18, 1937, at West Clermont Lutheran Church, confirmed at St. Olaf in West Union, and graduated from West Union High School in 1955. Peg married Milfred "Mel" Schultz on April 10, 1955, in Eldorado, Iowa. Together they had three children, Debbie, Gail and Gil.

Spending time with family and friends, including many garage sale adventures and fishing were her passions. Peg worked at the Sumner Community Hospital in the 1960's as a Nurse's Aide, and beginning in the 1970's, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls as a Surgical Technician where she retired in 1992. Following retirement, Peg and Mel moved to Lansing, where they had many friends and access to their love of fishing the Mississippi River. She moved back to Cedar Falls following Mel's death in 1997. Peg was also a member of Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran church for many years.

Peg is survived, by her son, Gil (Dianne) Schultz of Cedar Falls; sons-in-law, Bill Corwin of Cedar Falls and Blaine Holder of Lillian, AL; grandchildren, Alan (Jacquelyn) Schultz of Polk City, Kyle (Erica) Schultz of Cedar Falls, Ashli (Bryanna) Schultz of Cedar Falls, Carmin (Jeff) Stickfort of Waterloo, Adam (Jules) Corwin of Denver, CO, Matthew (Ana) Reisinger of Reno, NV, Christopher (Wendy) Reisinger of Reno, NV, Virginia Holder of Lillian, AL, Aaron Holder of Fairbank, AK, and Kyle Holder of Anchorage, AK; great-grandchildren, Harlow, Huxley, Holland and Hayven Schultz, Ava Feldick, Audra and Anya Schultz, Ashton Schultz, Claire, Callie and Cailin Stickfort, and Brandon (Rebecca) and Kasey (Sarah) Reisinger; great great-grandchildren, Olivia and Amy Reisinger and Forest Reisinger; brother, Adrian (Bernie) Martin of Hawkeye; many beloved nieces and nephews; and godchildren, Karen Rose and Dale Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mel; daughters, Debbie Holder and Gail Corwin; siblings, Willard "Bud" Martin, Jr., Archie "Bob" (Bev) Martin, and Wilma (Jim) Cline; and nephews, Larry and Denis Cline.

Peg's visitation will be held from 4-6pm, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Her funeral will be at 10:30am, Saturday, October 25, at the funeral home, with visitation an hour prior. Graveside service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Eldorado, at 2:30pm. I had many good visits with Peg about our West Union connections. She always loved it when her classmate came to visit his brother and brought his little dog Annie along. Peg will be missed.
