MARILYN BENINGER Obituary

BENINGER, MARILYN MAE (Aris)
Marilyn passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 at the age of 92 at St. Mary's Hospital, Montreal with her two sons by her side. She was born on the 16th of March 1932 in Port Arthur, Ontario (Thunder Bay) to Barney and Edna Aris. She met her future husband Roy Beninger at a dance in 1952 and married on June 24th in Port Arthur in a church down the street from where she lived. Roy worked for the Zellers Corporation which resulted in many moves. Toronto, New Westminster, Winnipeg where their first son Barney was born (1957) and then Edmonton before moving permanently to Montreal where their second son Bruce was born (1960).

She was a wonderful mom, always prioritizing her family's needs over her own and cherished every moment spent with them. She was a great neighbour in her community of Dollard des Ormeaux. Her enthusiasm and spontaneous laugh was infectious. She made a huge difference in the lives of those she touched.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her family, friends and community. She specifically asked that there be no funeral service and for everyone she knew not to be sad, but celebrate her wonderful life. Although she may no longer be with us, her memory will live on through the legacy she left behind.

We would like to give special thanks for the exceptional care Marilyn received on both the oncology/palliative floors of St. Mary's Hospital during her 10 day stay. We are so grateful for the kindness of Charles, her palliative care physician, who went above and beyond for her.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Roy and brother Bruce. Survived by sister-in-law Margaret Aris and special aunt Sharon Merits. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins on both the Murphy and Aris side also survive.
