July 13, 1958 - July 18, 2025

Maureen Ellen O'Connor, 67, of Evansdale, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.

Maureen was born July 13, 1958 in Waterloo, the daughter of Maurice and Mary Jane (Weber) O'Connor.

She graduated from East High School in 1976 and worked as a Price Changer at Bed, Bath and Beyond for many years until retiring. She grew up at St. John's and moved to Queen of Peace after St. John's closed. While at Queen of Peace she was a lector, usher, and eucharistic minister. She was also an eucharistic minister at Allen and Covenant Hospitals prior to moving in 2006. Maureen loved her son above all else.

She is survived by: her son, Edward O'Connor of Houston, Texas; her brother, Kevin (Sharon) O'Connor of Hastings, Minn.; four sisters, Ann (Earl) Buller of Evansdale, Sister Susan O'Connor of Cedar Rapids, Peggy (Rick) Mott of Waterloo, and Cate O'Connor of Cedar Rapids; her brother-in-law, Richard Weber of Waterloo; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Michael, Dennis (Lefty), and Thomas O'Connor; her sister, Marilyn Weber; two sisters-in-law, Karen and Mary O'Connor; her very special friend, Shannon; and her beloved dogs, Jazz and Angel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 24, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo. There will be a 3:45 p.m. Rosary on Wednesday, July 23, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date. Mass will be livestreamed on the parish website www.queenofpeaceparish.net.

So sorry to hear about Maureen´s passing.
We went to St. John´s School from 1st to 8th grade together, so I knew her well at that time.
We went different ways after that, but I always thought about her every time my brother, Jim said anything about Kevin.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of her friends and family.
