Michael Zenner Obituary

Michael Allen Zenner, 63, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin (formerly of Waterloo, Iowa) passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Due to Michael's wishes, no services will be held.

Michael was born in August of 1962 to Richard and Kathleen Zenner in Sioux City, Iowa. They later moved to Waterloo where Mike attended and graduated from East Waterloo High School class of 1980. Mike later on joined the United States Air Force where he honorably served for nearly 10 years.

During his time in the Air Force, Mike came back to Waterloo on leave and met Linda Brown. They were joined in marriage in May of 1987. With his career they moved to Oklahoma where they welcomed their first daughter, Brandy. After his separation from the Air Force they moved back to Waterloo where they welcomed their second daughter, Lindsay.

Mike was dedicated to his career in the National Weather Service, serving many different stations and showing his family different parts of the country. Mike worked for the National Weather Service until 2019 when he retired with more then 30 years of experience.

Mike loved to be outdoors with hunting and fishing every chance he got to include making trips back to Montana to do so. He also enjoyed woodworking that he had been passed down from his father and was always working on something new or fixing the old. Mike always went out of his way to help those he loved or those he knew needed the help.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda. His daughters, Brandy Zenner and Lindsay (Cody) Mosher and his grandson, Kayce Mosher. He is also survived by his brothers Christopher Zenner and Rodney (Nancy) Zenner.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Kathleen Zenner, mother-in-law, Madonna Junker and brother-in-law, Frederick Brown.

My heart goes out to Mike and his family. I knew him since grade school and Linda since East High. They were both good, clean kids back then. Glad he had a good life.

I'm sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I worked with Mike at the National Weather Service in Missoula and we had several hunting trips together. I helped him with some of his work trips and really enjoyed the time we hung out, whether it was work related or hunting. I'll keep your family in my thoughts.

Mike was such a generous soul. He took my son under his wing and taught him many things about archery, respecting the outdoors and respecting nature. He is forever a part of my heart. Many prayers for peace to his loved ones. RIP Mike.

So sorry for your loss. Last saw the family at Pat Radke's celebration of life. I am the daughter of Art and Lalie Boos. My dad was your grandma Alvera's brother. We used to visit in Waterloo when we visited my brothers Art and Tad. I will be having a mass said for Mike at Notre Dame in Chippewa Falls.
