Richard "Dick" Dreesman

Richard "Dick" Dreesman, 80, of Waverly, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center.
Richard James Dreesman was born on January 16, 1945, the son of Tom and Etta (Reiter) Dreesman, in Allison, Iowa. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on April 18, 1981, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Dick graduated from Waverly Shell Rock High School. He worked for farmers as a young man, Tom's APCO, Waverly Tire Shop, Roy's Place and in 1965, started at John Deere. On August 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Velda Ann Leisinger at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. In December of 1998, he retired from John Deere after 33 years. He also did construction work on the side. He would often tell Velda on their drives around the area, "That he built that garage, shingled that roof, fixed those windows…etc."
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School, Union Steward and Fire Brigade. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, and billiards and loved horses.
Survivors are his wife, Velda; children, Vicki (Cole) Kollenkark of Adel, Brenda (Nick) Krull of Vinton, Timothy (Kathy) Dreesman of Waverly and Richard (Heather) Dreesman of Plattsmouth, Neb.; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Lageschulte of Cedar Falls; three brothers, Eugene Dreesman of Clarksville, Fred (Kay) Dreesman of Waverly, and Larry Dreesman of Waverly. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Angeline and Norma, brother, Ernest and brother, Robert and sister, Ruth in infancy; three sisters-in-law, Mary, Betty and Barb; and brother-in-law, Andrew.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School with Pastor Dave Efflandt presiding. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
