In Loving Memory of Julius Alvin Baker May 4, 1953 – September 12, 2025
Julius Alvin Baker, 72, of Tallassee, Alabama, passed peacefully on September 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
Born on May 4, 1953, Julius lived a life defined by quiet strength and heartfelt generosity. After earning his college degree, he poured his talents into helping his Dad expand Baker’s Upholstery —a business that became a local staple not just for its quality, but for the care and pride Julius infused into every stitch. His hands shaped comfort, his heart shaped trust.
Before his entrepreneurial journey, Julius served his country with honor in the United States Army. His time in uniform reflected the discipline and selflessness that would guide him throughout his life. He was a man of integrity, whose actions spoke louder than words.
To know Julius was to be welcomed by warmth. He had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued—whether they were lifelong friends or first-time customers. If one wanted to make a deal, Julius would be the man to work out the details and make a win-win for everyone involved. He probably should have been the town's mayor for as many deals he put together. His laughter lingered, his advice resonated, and his presence brought calm.
Julius is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-four years, Jan L. Baker, whose partnership was the cornerstone of his joy. He also leaves behind his sons, Christopher Baker and Bobby Taylor (James), who carry forward his spirit and values.
He joins in rest his parents, Julius L. and Jacqueline J. Baker, and his brother, Marcus Baker—whose memories remain cherished and alive in the hearts of those who loved them.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at East Tallassee Baptist Church to honor Julius’s remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice Care, 850 Friendship Road, Tallassee, Alabama 36078—a reflection of Julius’s enduring care for others.
