William Lamar Obituary

LAMAR, William "Wild Bill", 78, resident of Prattville, AL, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 7, 2025. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:30 am from Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Mize officiating and Prattville Memorial directing. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Mr. Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Ferris, Jr. and Dorothy Lamar. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Lamar; two daughters, Courtney Oates (Travis) and Sunday McGalliard; one grandson, Jesse Oates (Amy); two granddaughters, Chaleigh McGalliard and Chloe McGalliard; sister, Renee Allen; extended family and friends. Bill retired from the Montgomery Police Department after serving 20 years, He was a proud Vietnam veteran and was a Court Security Officer for many years at the Fank M. Johnson Jr. U.S. Courthouse. Bill was known for his sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bolton, John Shumway, Mike Headley, Thomas Lovett, Wayne Butler and Buddy Paul, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Barregarye, Ron McClaney, Everette Johnson, George Wynn and Steve Lambdin.
