Lyndon Station, WI - Daniel T. Stoppenbach, beloved husband, brother, and uncle, passed away Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2025, at his home in
Lyndon Station, WI, with his loving wife by his side. He was 72 years old.
Dan was born on May 24, 1953, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the only son of Thomas R. and Lillian B. (Heinrich) Stoppenbach who raised him in
Watertown, WI.
Dan was a 1971 graduate of Watertown High School, and he participated in wrestling and played the drums in the band. Dan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an undergraduate degree in Psychology & Communicative Disorders. He later earned his master's degree in Communicative Disorders-Audiology. Dan was interested in evidence-based clinical and research practices. During his career, his work was showcased in several publications including the 5th Edition of Handbook of Clinical Audiology and he was awarded the Editor's Award by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for his co-authored chapter in the American Journal of Audiology. In 2012, he retired from Communicative Disorders (Audiology), UW-Madison, as an Emeritus Clinical Associate Professor, CCC-A. Dan was always interested in being a lifelong learner; he realized that the older he got, the more things he didn't know. Dan enjoyed watching the Packers, Cubs, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks, just like his dad. Dan loved gardening, landscaping, motorcycling, fishing, and listening to music. As Dan said, he had "the best of family, friends, and pets-no less...the best!" He was preceded in death by his loving parents Thomas R. and Lillian B. Stoppenbach (Heinrich). He is survived by and blessed for having his wonderful, loving wife, Robin (Pasch) Stoppenbach; his wonderful, loving sisters Julie (Michael) Milbrath and Lori (Grant) Gerth; his nieces Erika Stueber (Matt Phelps) and Sarah Gerth; his nephews Ryan (Sheila) and Dan (Courtney) Gerth; his mother-in-law Gail Rueckheim; his brother-in-law Scott Rueckheim; his dog, Sadie; and other relatives and friends.
Per his request, funeral services are to be withheld. In lieu of flowers, donations can be gifted to a pet rescue or a local food bank of one's choice.
