Lawana Dosser Obituary

Lawana Maxine (Ackerman) Dosser

October 10, 1944 – June 27, 2024

Wenatchee, WA

Lawana Maxine (Ackerman) Dosser, 79 years old, passed peacefully in her sleep on June 27, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Lawana, "Sis", was born the second of three children, on October 10, 1944, in Port Townsend, WA. She was the daughter of Condit and Lila (Allgaier) Ackerman. In 1952, the family moved to Springdale, WA, then settled in Spokane Valley. Lawana graduated from Central Valley in 1963. After high school, she studied to become a Dental Assistant. She worked in dental until she married the love of her life, George Leonard Dosser, on August 28, 1965. They moved to Pullman, WA, while George finished his studies at WSU. After George graduated, they moved to St. Louis, MO, for a short time, before settling in Spokane, WA, to help with the Dosser family ranch, where they built a home. In November 1967, they had their first child, Kirk Rodney, and in September 1970, Beverly Jane was born. While in Spokane, Lawana was busy raising the kids, helping on the ranch, and teaching Sunday school at the Church in Liberty Lake. After George's mother passed in 1975, they sold their home and moved to the Wenatchee Valley along with his father, George Sr. The Dossers purchased Wenatchee Meat Packing Co., and Blue Ribbon Meat Co., where Lawana helped in the office once the kids were in school. Both Lawana and George were very active parents, helping in Sunday School, Blue Birds, Cub Scouts, driving kids to sporting events, or taking the family camping or horseback riding. They were there through it all. No less than five times, they opened their home to family or friends in need.

Some of Lawana's personal interests included: fellowshipping, gardening, camping, square dancing, crocheting, knitting, painting, and listening to music. Her favorite pastime was caring for her loving family. When George was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease around 2008, she jumped in to learn all she could, and help in every way possible. She became the secretary of the Parkinson's Support Group, and also found that boxing was especially helpful to keep both sides of the brain and body working together. They found a friend who was interested in helping, so they provided financial assistance to certify him as a coach and open Rock Steady Boxing in Wenatchee.

Lawana lived to serve her Lord and Savior, her family, and anyone she could with the gifts she was given. When she was unable to help, she would search to find another who would join her cause. Lawana truly had a heart of gold. She was an exceptional daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by both her parents. Lawana is survived by her older brother, Charlie Ackerman (wife Barbara); and younger brother, Dale Ackerman; her children: Kirk (wife Jackie), and Beverly Strutzel (husband Paul); four granddaughters: Kamill Yacinich, Kassidy Dosser, Delaney Strutzel, and Rhiannon Strutzel; and Kamill's boys (her great-grandsons): Brady, Bayne, and Bourne Paz Yacinich; as well as numerous extended family members.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Saddlerock Presbyterian Church, 1400 S. Miller St., Wenatchee, WA, 98801.
