Wanda Corey Obituary

Wanda Chloe Corey
May 15, 1930 - January 8, 2025
Wanda "Chloe" Corey was born on May 15, 1930, in Wenatchee, WA, and passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025. She filled her 94+ years of life with devotion to Christ, love for her family and friends, and passion for music, teaching, and traveling.
Chloe was an active member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Wenatchee, WA, for most of her life, where she deepened her faith and praised the Lord.
She loved music and grew up playing the piano and singing. She was an important member of several singing groups throughout her life, including the Community Choir, Sweet Adelines, and the Wenatchee Valley Appleaires. Those around her were lucky if they got to hear her yodel!
Chloe was an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners and loved watching their games, whether cheering from the stands or tuning in on television. One of her prouder moments came in 1983, when, as a member of the Appleaires, she had the honor of singing the National Anthem at a Mariners game.
She went to high school in Wenatchee, then graduated from Northwest Christian College (NCC), in Eugene, OR, with a bachelor's degree in religious education. She obtained her teaching certificate from Whitworth College and taught for over 40 years until she retired in 1995.
Chloe enjoyed spending her retirement years traveling the world. From visits to Virginia to see her two grandchildren, to ziplining in Costa Rica, to cruising with her family, to going on a safari in Africa, she namely expressed that one of her favorite travel moments was releasing sea turtles into the wild. She was brave and strong-willed with a good sense of adventure.
Chloe is preceded in death by her parents, Gail Hood Simon and Susanna Marie Simon, and her two older siblings, Estella Josephine Earls and Gail Hood Simon, Jr. She is survived by her three sons, Alan Corey (Linda), Russell Corey, and Tyler Corey (Benji); her two grandchildren, Keith Corey (Courtney) and Susanna Corey (John); and her two great grandchildren, William and Rebecca Corey.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 15th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Cornerstone Christian Church (12 N Chelan Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801). The family welcomes all to join as we remember and cherish the wonderful, full life of Wanda Chloe Corey.

I´m so glad I had the privilege of knowing Chloe! I remember asking her how she managed to grow such big boys and her reply, "Keep the fridge stocked and get out of the way when they´re hungry!" She really adored her family My sincere condolences and prayers to all who loved her.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Corey, my Mom (Sonja Yeager), Mrs. McColley and Mrs. Shaw (pictured left to right) practicing in our living room growing up for their `quartet´ performances. I miss their cheerful music. My condolences to the Corey family ~ Heidi (Yeager) Lamers

I wish I would have known her growing up. Just looking at her, you can see that she's one of God's best. Unfortunately, we'll be out of the country for her celebration of life.
