It is with a heavy heart and yet a sense of joy that we reflect on the life of Juan Colon Marrero, affectionately known by friends and family as Guangi. Born January 3, 1946, in Guayama, Puerto Rico, his story is one of resilience, humor, and an infectious love for life that left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A loving father, reliable friend, funny companion, and courageous soul, Juan's life was a testament to the power of laughter, music, and family.
Juan's journey from a farm worker in Puerto Rico to a beloved figure in Webster, Massachusetts, was a testament to his indomitable spirit. His life was a delightful melody, filled with the rhythm of Puerto Rican music and dance. His love for sports and dominoes brought people together, forging bonds of camaraderie that lasted a lifetime. Juan's life was a celebration, whether he was on the dance floor, at the domino table, or cheering on his favorite sports team. His courage shone through his ability to bring joy and unity to his community, even when faced with the challenges of his own life.
Juan was the pillar of a large and loving family, raising his children Myrna Miranda, Evelyn Colon, Felix Colon, and Wilberto Colon with love and humility. His legacy lives on in his 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 granddogs. He is survived by his devoted children, who along with the rest of the family, will miss their Guangi immensely. Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Colon Rodriguez and Felicita Marrero Rivera, his brothers Jorge Colon and Angel Colon Marrero, and his former wife and children's mother, Ana Suliveres.
