Peter Murphy Obituary
5/26/1964 - 11/1/2024
Peter Nicholson Murphy passed away on November 1, 2024, in London, England, after a brief illness.
Peter was born on May 26, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Maria Nicholson Murphy of Southwest Harbor, Maine, who survive him.
He graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford, CT, in 1982 and from Columbia University in 1986. He also obtained an M.B.A. from Kellogg School at Northwestern University. For the length of his career, he specialized in developing and managing medical risk insurance markets in the USA and abroad, which permitted him to travel widely, something he greatly enjoyed.
Peter was known for his generosity, great sense of humor, and compassion for the children of the world. He will be profoundly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Peter is survived by his former wife, Suzanne Leahy, and their children, Nicholas and Sorcha Murphy of Dalkey, Ireland; his brother, Matthew Murphy of Chicago; his sister, Julia Murphy of West Hartford, CT; his niece, Emma Murphy of Beverly Hills, CA and his nephew, George Murphy Klein of New York City.
Memorial contributions in Peter's memory may be made to Doctors Without Borders, whose work Peter admired.
