Joreta Wheeler Obituary

Joreta Wheeler, 89, West Plains, Mo., daughter of the late Barm Brewer and Lola McGhee Brewer, was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Oregon County, Mo., and passed away Sept. 25, 2025, in Redlands, Calif.

She was married Feb. 13, 1993, in West Plains, Mo., to James W. Wheeler, who preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2005.

She is survived by one daughter Debbra Pound, Beaumont, Calif.; one brother Dennie Brewer, West Plains; two grandchildren Tracy Pound and wife Natalie, Columbia, Tenn., and Travis Pound and fiancée Rachel Matthews, Ridgecrest, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Maverick James Pound, Brooklyn Marie Pound and Luke David Pound.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister-in-law.

Joreta volunteered at Ozarks Health Care, West Plains, for over 15 years. She was a member of the LifePoint Church, West Plains. Her love and her dedication to her savior Jesus was her life's passion outside of her love for her precious family. The love that she had for Jesus was unmatched and it was her driving force. She loved church more than anything and loved to sing and lead the song service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service the same day. Burial will be at Thayer Cemetery, Thayer, Mo.
