Mabel Rice Obituary

Mabel Mae Rice, 87, West Plains, Mo., passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Cedarhurst of West Plains.

She was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Wooster, Ohio, to Lester Alec Parcell and Ruth Pauline Shankland Parcell. On April 7, 1958, she was married in Tucson, Ariz., to Charles Michael Rice, who preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2013.

Mabel and Charles raised their family in San Diego, Calif. Her family was first in everything and she loved them dearly. She also loved animals. Mrs. Rice enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, bowling and listening to country music on her record player. She was adventurous and loved trying new things.

She is survived by three children Charles Michael Rice and wife Janice, West Plains, Joseph Lloyd Rice, Nixa, Mo., and Leslie Albrecht and husband Steve, Strafford, Mo.; six grandchildren Sondra Meany and husband Jerry III, West Plains, John Rice, West Plains, Joseph Rice, Norfolk, Va., Marilyn Rice, St. Louis, Matthew Rice, San Diego, and Carly Garcia and husband Marcos, Miami, Fla.; three great-grandchildren Charles, Walter and Rose Meany; one brother Robert Parcell and wife Dani, Missoula County, Mont.; one sister Donna Smetzer, Wooster; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, and three brothers Richard, John and James Parcell preceded her in death.

A private burial will be at Homeland Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.robertsondrago.com.
