Maureen Purcell 07/27/2021 Maureen Purcell nee Foran of Hampton Bays NY and formerly of Westport CT. beloved wife of Dale Purcell for 41 years passed away Tuesday July 27th, 2021 from complications after neuro-vascular surgery. Maureen was born August 1st 1957 in Michigan the 8th child of the late Lois and Joseph Foran. She grew up in Westport where she made her best lifelong friends. She graduated from Staples High School in 1975. After marrying her high school boyfriend Dale they lived and worked in Connecticut, and had their son Dale Jr. In 1979 they moved north to Maine to run The Lucerne Inn with the family. There Maureen acquired her love of baking, often staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning to learn and perfect a recipe. They moved to Long Island where Maureen and her husband worked at Marder's Landscaping. She was the landscape production labor, vehicle and equipment manager. She worked there for 30 years. Maureen always gave 200% to anything she did. She was a dedicated hardworking person and always a good friend. People always gravitated to Maureen. She was beautiful, smart and funny. People just liked to be around her. When she arrived at a gathering people always seemed to be happier and everyone hated to see her leave. Her self-deprecating sense of humor and her infamous malaprops made you laugh and like her even more. Her baking was her passion. No holiday or even a visit was complete unless we had Maureen's cinnamon buns. There was a secret in the recipe that she never told anyone. Maureen is survived by so many people who love her and will miss her terribly. Her husband Dale and her son Dale Purcell Jr. His wife Sandy and the light of her life her granddaughter Elowyn. Her ten brothers and sisters, Joseph Foran Jr, Kevin Foran, Christopher Foran, Kathleen Marder, Colin Foran, Brigid DiRenzo, Sean Foran, Brian Foran, Megan Foran and Michael Foran, their spouses, their children and grandchildren. Her husband's family, Daniel Purcell, Richard Purcell, Katherine Zeoli, Francine George, Thomas Purcell and Lawrence Purcell, their spouses, their children and grandchildren. Along with so many cousins, nieces and nephews and good friends. There will be a memorial to remember Maureen at a date to be determined.

A true friend shows love at all times
And is a brother who is born for
times of distress.
I am an old neighbor and friend of Dale. My brothers and I grew up with the Purcell brothers. As mischievous as we were we grew up to be responsible adults, good husband´s and great parents for our children. I myself have lost a son only to grow closer to God. It is with this strength that my heart goes out to you in your loss of your wife. May you and your family find comfort and peace in Christ´s love at this difficult time.
