Murdo "Scotty" Maciver December 6, 1942 - July 23, 2021 Murdo "Scotty" Maciver 78, passed away peacefully on July 23 at Bridgeport Hospital after a long illness. Born to Malcolm and Margaret Maciver in Glasgow, Scotland, Murdo immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1964, where he worked for many years as a commercial electrician before retiring due to his health. A long-time resident of Fairfield County, Murdo was an avid golfer and played frequently at local courses. Murdo will be remembered for his dry humor, easy-going nature, and love of sports as both participant and spectator. Murdo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doreen, his son Angus Maciver (Faith); his daughter Donna Maciver (Jeff); his brother Eric Maciver (Ellen); his grandchildren Michael Maciver, Nicole Marolda, Joseph Marolda and Matthew Marolda; his sister-in-law Rosalind Palmer (Pete); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Iain and his brother Norman (Irene). Murdo was a kind, supportive husband and father, and his strong, quiet presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Shamrock Healthcare, The Geriatric Center, and friends Maria and Rita for all their help, and the Fairfield Fire Department for their assistance over the years. Services will be private, and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Fairfield Professional Firefighters Benevolent Fund (FPFBF), PO Box 1184, Fairfield, CT 06825.
