Rosemary Alice Carey
Rosemary Alice Carey, age 70, passed away on October 26, 2021 from a non-covid illness.
Rosemary was born on March 16, 1951 in Boonton, New Jersey to Alice Ruth (Kirby) and Harry George Carey. She attended Catholic University in Washington D.C. where she earned both a BA (focus on WWII) and a Master's Degree in International Politics (Sino - Soviet military analysis).
Rosemary and her husband, Edward G. Hynes III, spent 45 years together enjoying each other's company as they worked and traveled to all corners of the earth. Her passion for learning spanned many areas and included a deep knowledge of scores of military battles from the Revolution, Civil and Indian Wars. She also visited the sites of most ancient cultures while taking in all seven continents in the process.
She had a love for food and mastered the preparation of numerous cuisines. One highlight was in the 1990s when she helped compile and edit a beautiful cookbook: The Fine Art of Dining.
Her most fervent passion however, was her love for National Dance Institute (NDI). This was sparked when she was working in theater management in New York and was introduced to Jacques d'Amboise, the famous ballet dancer. Jacques had recently founded NDI, an organization dedicated to dance instruction for young students in NYC public schools. Jacques and Rosemary were true partners - to his big ideas she always responded, "I think we can do that!" Rosemary was great with the big picture but she quietly looked after every single dancer to make sure they had a wonderful experience. Hearing stories that Rosemary went to a student's home to make sure the child's permission slip was signed was not uncommon. For many years Rosemary also helped run the Trenton Education Dance Institute, an affiliate of NDI.
Rosemary's parents predeceased her. She is survived by her husband Ed and numerous nieces and nephews including Casandra and Ed Hynes to whom she was especially devoted.
