Theodora K. Bamford
Theodora K. Bamford, wife of David E. Bamford of Westport, Connecticut passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born on her maternal grandparents' farm in Franklin, NY, Teddy (as she was known to family and friends) was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Kenny and the older sister to Trudy. Teddy grew up in Kingston, NY and after graduating from Kingston High School, she attended Saint Lawrence University before moving to Washington, DC to work in the Pentagon during the Second World War.
Teddy and David moved frequently in their first twenty years of marriage, living in Washington DC, Kentucky, Connecticut, Illinois, and New York, before moving to Westport in 1969. For more than half a century, Westport gave her a town, neighbors, and a home that she loved and happily never left. She volunteered for over 25 years at Norwalk Hospital.
She is survived by her three children, Mary Ann Bamford of Bridgeport, Connecticut; David Bamford and his partner Kama Garrison of Washington, DC; and James and his wife Carol Lynn Bamford of Washington, DC. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren: Matthew Wilson of Bridgeport, Connecticut; Emily Wilson of Norwalk, Connecticut; Elliott Bamford of Atlanta, Georgia; Zander Bamford-Brown of Montreal, Canada; and Alexandra Bamford of Washington, DC. She was predeceased by her beloved husband David and two grandchildren, Kathryn and Timothy Wilson.
Services were held on July 21, 2020 at Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westport EMS or Homes for Hope.
