He leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and advocacy for his community. Born in Sacramento, Bill lived his entire 77 years in West Sacramento. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and community leader he touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity. His loss will be deeply felt by all. Preceded in death by his parents (George and Mary Kristoff); his sister and brother-in-laws (Kathy Brandon, Obie Brandon, and Samuel Houser). As a community leader Bill was known for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those around him. He served as West Sacramento City Council member for 30 years, including 3 terms as mayor. He was instrumental in bringing improvements and development to West Sacramento. Always available to address the needs of West Sacramento residents, his passion for public service was evident in everything he did, and he will be remembered for his integrity, kindness and devotion to family and community. Outside of his work on the City Council, bill served the community as postmaster for Bryte and Broderick post offices. Very sorry to hear Bill has passed. First met him 1966, We unloaded a watermelon truck for Coast Citrus produce at the 5th st. market. We met again at Ft. Polk La. June 1967. Then again when our Daughters attended "Our Lady of Grace" school. He was a good guy, rip.

When Bill was on the city council he was "small town" accessible. Don't remember if his phone number was listed in the phone book but somehow I got it. Whenever I called asking about issues in West Sacramento he made time and talked to me. He was a "salt of the earth" personality.. uncomplicated, told it like it was, and a joy to speak with.
