Cody Mitchell Obituary

Cody D. Mitchell, 28, of Ossian passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2025, in Huntington. Cody was born in Fort Wayne on May 24, 1997, to Danny Rice and Barbara (Mitchell) Thompson. His father preceded him in death. Cody attended Norwell High School and later went on to work at Pretzel's Inc. in Bluffton. He enjoyed camping, swimming, driving golf carts, dogs, cheering on the Chicago Bears, and spending time with his friends and family. Cody is survived by his mother, Barbara (Kevin) Thompson of Ossian; three brothers, Zach Thompson of Ossian, Jeremiah (Lydia) Thompson of Ft. Wayne, Josh (Melissa Bressler) Thompson of Ft. Wayne; two sisters, Jessica (Eric) VanWagner of Ft. Wayne, and Jessica (Jeremiah Isaiah) James of West Virginia; grandmother, Barbara Mitchell; a set of bonus parents, David and Manuela Brock; along with five uncles, four aunts, many cousins and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald S. Mitchell; grandparents, Albert and Dorothy Rice; a sister, Angel Sheets; and a cousin Todd Mitchell. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM, until 3:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, followed immediately by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Clark Stoller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, directly in care of the funeral home.
