Dale L. Nierman

Dale L. Nierman, 90, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born September 17, 1934, in Jefferson Township of Whitley County, he was a son of the late Joshua and Alta (Fairchild) Nierman. He graduated from Coesse High School, Class of 1952. Dale worked for Graft Milk Transportation delivering milk to Prairie Farms. He also drove over the roads for various companies, including GE, Super Value, and Overnight. He was a member of Dunfee Missionary Church, the Lions Club Arcola Chapter, 4 Tractor Clubs and was a lifetime member of Maumee Valley Antique Steam and Gas Association. Growing up on a dairy farm in Coesse, Dale's love was farming. He enjoyed rebuilding antique tractors and collecting John Deere memorabilia. Dale is survived by his children, Gary (Lisa) Nierman, Duane (Laurie) Nierman, Linda Eloph, and Catherine (Matt) Osborne; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jeremy Pion; daughter-in-law, Chandra Nierman; sister, Marie Young; brother, Ross (Emalou) Nierman; sisters-in-law, Carol Nierman and Linda Nierman; step-brothers, Roger (Pat) Williamson, David Williamson, and Robert Williamson; and step-sister, Rosalyn Mitchell. In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by his children, Terri Pion and Lee Nierman; brothers, Earl Nierman and Wayne Nierman; brother-in-law, Carl Young; and step-brother, Larry Williamson. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Burial will take place at Union Township Cemetery.
