Gerald "Jerry" Hall

Gerald "Jerry" Hall was called to Heaven on April 20th at the age of 93.
Jerry would tell anyone that he's lived a good life..one without regrets. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Central High School in 1950.
Afterwards he joined the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was assigned as a Military Policeman at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. It was there that he met the love of his life, Charlene (Meir) Hall.
They were married at the Fort Wayne Cathedral in June of 1957, and began their family: Debbie, Kelly, and Ron.
In 1966, Jerry became an Allen County Sheriff's Deputy, where he first served at the jail, then became the County's first Juvenile Officer, working security at hundreds of Carrol High School events, much to the dismay of his teenage children!
He later became a Lieutenant/Detective and completed his 26+ years in Law Enforcement as the Chief Deputy for Sheriff Dan Figel. He truly loved his job and the officers (who became lifelong friends) he was proud to serve with.
Jerry's friendly personality, sense of humor and "Gift of gab" made him friends wherever he went.
After retiring, Jerry and Charlene spent their golden years at Witmer Lake, fishing, swimming, and entertaining friends and family. Jerry was never happier than when he was at the wheel of his pontoon during a sunset ride on the lake. In the winter he enjoyed cheering on Notre Dame Football and IU basketball. They also loved to travel and have driven through most every State in the USA, as well as taking cruises to Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico.
Jerry enjoyed a long full life with his wife of 67 years by his side and surrounded by 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Truly a life well lived!
A visitation will take place at St. Gasper Catholic Church, 10871 N State Road 9, Rome City on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, the memorial mass will begin at 11:00AM, with a reception at the church immediately following.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana.
Young Family Funeral Home, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
