Ian Tesch Obituary
Ian Michael Tesch was born on October 4, 1990 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Lisa Tesch and Terry Brutton. Although his parents never married, Ian was very much planned for and loved.
He attended St. John The Baptist Catholic grade school in Fort Wayne, graduated from Homestead High School in 2009, where he swam and medaled in the top 8 his senior year on the boy's state relay, then graduated from Ball State University in 2015 with a degree in Biosciences.
Ian started swimming at the age of 7 at Avalon Summer Sports Club under the guidance of his lifetime swim coach, Chris Knoblauch. At the age of 11, Ian joined the USA Swim Team, Three Rivers Aquatic Club (TRAC), adding another lifetime coach, Bill Close. From this point on his love for swimming grew and his love for coaching grew even more. He mentored countless young swimmers over several seasons at local clubs, including leading the Bishop Dwenger girls swim team to a sectional win in 2021.
Ian moved to Salt Lake City in early 2022 and fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and all the available outdoor activities, although Grand Haven Michigan remained his favorite.
Ian leaves behind his loving mother Lisa Tesch (Rusty), father Terry Brutton (Lynn), sisters Kori, Nikkalette and Olivia, brothers Dustin, Hunter, Chase and Jaegar, grandmother Norma Tesch, three aunts and 11 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his only uncle.
Guests attending the funeral are asked to dress casually and wear their favorite swim team memorabilia, anything Notre Dame, or the color green in honor of Ian. These were just a few of his favorites.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November, 8, 2025 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.
