James Fritz Obituary

James Fritz, 72, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on September 18, 1953, to Pete Fritz and Mary (Smith) Wise. He married Jane Ann Sharp, who preceded him in death in 1977. James was a part of the Air Force and Marines and was very proud of his service. He even had a bulldog named Bruce, after the Marine mascot. After leaving the military he worked various jobs including driving trucks and working as a security guard. James loved driving because it let him be able to travel. He would often travel around the U.S., and North Carolina was his favorite place to visit. He had been stationed there when he was in the Marines. James also loved reading and could read long books in only a day. His favorite movies were old movies and westerns. He also loved watching wrestling and would record the shows so he could rewatch them. From a young age he learned to play Euchre and continued playing over the years with his siblings. He is survived by his sisters, Dawn Beam and Cathy Budowski; brother, Lee Fritz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Ann (Sharp) Fritz; his parents, Pete Fritz and Mary (Smith) Wise; sisters, Linda Miller and Loretta Hawkins; and brothers, Bruce Fritz and Arthur Wise. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veteran's National Memorial Shrine & Museum.
