Kenneth Palmer Obituary
Kenneth R. Palmer, known affectionately as Ken to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Butler, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 21, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, Ken's 90 years of life were marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a zest for life that was truly contagious.
Ken grew up in the bustling city of Detroit and graduated from Redford Union High School in Redford, Michigan. After his education, he proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. Upon returning to civilian life, Ken embarked on a successful career as a salesman for various parts companies, forging lasting relationships with the Big Three in the automotive industry.
His work ethic was remarkable, but it was his role as a family man that truly defined him. Ken was a beloved husband to his wife, Geraldine Palmer, and a guiding light to his children Diane (Jim), Kevin (deceased) (Kari), Karen, and Brian. As a father, he was both a mentor and a friend, instilling values of creativity, handiness, and a spirited nature in each of them. His legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren Joshua (McKenna), Kyle, Kevin (Marie), Kristen, Melissa, Griffin, Jessie, Jennel, and Serek, as well as several great-grandchildren who will remember him for his stories and laughter.
A devout Christian, Ken's faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and comfort. His beliefs were evident in the way he lived, always striving to be an example of kindness and integrity for those around him.
Upon retirement, Ken fulfilled a lifelong dream and relocated to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where the sun shone on his favorite pastime: golf. There, he could often be found on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts. Ken's love for the game was matched only by his creative flair, which he expressed through various projects and endeavors, always eager to put his handyman skills to good use.
Ken's spirited personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His creative solutions, handy work around the house, and boundless energy were a source of inspiration. His laughter was infectious, his stories captivating, and his presence a comfort to all.
As we remember Kenneth R. Palmer, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by love, service, and joy. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ken's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched. His journey on earth may have concluded, but his spirit continues to shine brightly, guiding us with the lessons he imparted and the love he shared.
