L. Jagger Obituary
L. Maxine Jagger, age 100, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 11:45 pm on Tuesday April 22, 2025, at Millers Oak Pointe, Columbia City. Born on June 23, 1924, in Noble County, she was the daughter Guy and Northa (Winebrenner) Kesling.
Maxine attended Wolf Lake High School and graduated with the Class of 1942. She then attended Warner Beauty College. On July 23, 1949, she married John Devon Jagger at Merriam Christian Chapel.
Maxine worked for General Electric and S.F. Bowser, Fort Wayne during WWII and then worked for Dana Weatherhead, Columbia City, until her retirement in 1986. After her retirement, Maxine stayed active by cleaning her church and homes of family and friends in need.
She was a member of Blue River Community Church Womens Circle and also served as Church Treasurer.
Maxine enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, crocheting, bird watching, and helping other people in any way she could.
Survivors include her sons Steven (Janet) Jagger of Albion, Dennis (Sandy) Jagger of Pierceton, Kendall "Butch" (Jeanie) Jagger and Michael (Ellen) Jagger, both of Columbia City; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 73 years John Devon Jagger, siblings Leona Starkey, Thad Kesling, and Ardilla Dunfee, grandsons Jared Jagger and Jason Ashcraft.
Friends may call on Sunday April 27, 2025, from 12:00-4:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services for Maxine will be held at 10:00 am on Monday April 28, 2025, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
Memorial contributions in memory of Maxine may be made to Francines Friends-Whitley County or Mission 25.
