Robert Tuffley

Robert Claire Tuffley, age 76, lost on the last lotto ticket he ever scratched. He passed away under the loving care of his family on October 28, 2025. While he may have been on the losing end of the lottery more times than not, in life, he hit the jackpot. He was born in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin before moving to Kendallville, Indiana in his early teens. Later, he was blessed with meeting his wife, Pam, and together they raised their son, Gabe. Known for his tireless work ethic, deep love for his family, and a knack for making people laugh, Robert lived a life full of purpose, loyalty, and laughter. He spent his entire career in the foundry, priding himself on learning all aspects of the process and sharing his knowledge with others. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and coaching youth sports. Whether he was cheering from the bleachers or offering sideline wisdom (solicited or not), he was always his son's and grandkids' biggest fan. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, who somehow managed to keep him in line, well-fed, and out of trouble (mostly). His legacy lives on through his son, Gabe, and daughter-in-law, Deidra, and his grandchildren: Chandler and Matthew Crable, Corie and Connor Marks, and Hayden Jones and four great grandchildren. Their long-standing family rule was: "Don't listen to Grandpa Bob." as he often encouraged mischievous behavior that was borderline naughty-and usually hilarious. We now hope they break that rule. Instead, they should follow his example: work hard, love fiercely, and always show up (preferably with lottos). Robert is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Cox and Janis Engerman; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jan Coleman, Hal and Robyn Miller, Dawn and Steve McCreery, Sherley Miller, Scott and Laurie Miller; Mike Cox, Sharon Tuffley, Melissa Tuffley, David Jones and former daughter-in-law Daphne Jones. He and Pam also share a lively crew of nieces and nephews who will miss his stories, his charm, and his ability to have fun-even if it meant being the punchline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Monna Tuffley; and his brothers, Ronnie and Charles Tuffley; and brothers-in-law, Kim Miller and John Engerman, who we imagine greeted him with open arms. Robert's life was a reminder that you don't need to win the lottery to be rich in all the ways that matter. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend-and he was really, really good at it. Funeral services will be private.
