Ronald Magsamen Obituary
Ronald Lee Magsamen, age 75, went home to be with Jesus and was no longer in pain on Friday August 22, 2025. He was born March 10,1950 in Elkhart, IN. He graduated from Central High School in 1968. Ron worked right out of high school at Essex until his retirement in 2020.
Ron married his high school sweetheart Julie, on August 28, 1971. They had a passion for traveling to many places and studying the history. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2023. He played softball and golfed several times a week up until a couple of months ago. Ron was an avid sports fanatic. He would watch it any opportunity he could, whether on TV or at the actual games. He loved I.U. Basketball and was a Detroit Tigers fan. Ron could tell you anything about any sports you asked. He was often referred to as a walking encyclopedia by many because of his knowledge of sports. His family, friends and coworkers would tell you that he would take the shirt off his back and go above and beyond to help anyone. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Chad) Parrish, and Rita Santure; grandchildren whom he adored, Rosie Patterson, Mark Parrish (fiancée Taylor Barta), Michael Magsamen, Brandon Parrish, and Ashley Parrish; great grandchildren, Lennox, Emory Rose (born August 19, 2025), and Leo; sisters, Linda (Richard) L'Heureux from Gulf Breeze, FL., Devonna (Mark) Wilson from Uniondale, IN, Tabatha (Steve) Petty from Clayton, IN; plus many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his wife; his father Joseph Magsamen; stepmother Virginia Magsame; mother, Donna Johnson; stepfather, James Johnson; brother, John Johnson; and nephew, Derek Johnson.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. The Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery following the service.
