Susan Stanley Obituary
Susan K. Stanley, 65, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by family at Peabody Memorial Retirement Home. Born March 1, 1960, in Columbia City, Indiana she was a daughter of the late Obert and Helen (Buckles) Cramar.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1978. Susan completed her EMS training in 1992 and graduated from Ivy Tech with a Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 1996. In the 1980's Susan worked for Seamco where she was the Union President. She also worked in Rehab and Long-Term Care, spending most of her time at Miller's Merry Manor. Susan organized the Coesse School Facebook page that just celebrated its 10th year online.
Susan loved to cross stitch, attend craft shows and festivals with the Kendallville Apple Festival being her favorite. Her favorite time of year was Fall. Another favorite pastime of Susan's was walking on the beach in Florida and collecting seashells. The ocean was Susan's happy place. She also enjoyed animals, especially her cats. Susan was always willing to help those in need. She will always be remembered for her outspoken and mischievous personality. Many times, she made those around her laugh so much they would ache from laughter.
Susan is survived by her sister, Joni Cramar; niece, Helen Ashley (Mary Ruth) Godsey; great nephew, Braeden Minnich; great niece, Ashlyn (Travis) Wilson; half-sister, Connie (Don) Smith; many cousins; several bonus nieces and nephew along with her high school best friend of 51 years Earlene Alexander. Susan is preceded in death by her half-siblings, Bud (Evelyn) Cramar, Ralph (Karen) Cramar, and Mary (Ed) Blevins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, August 11, 2025, with calling one hour prior at the funeral home. Please feel free to dress casually.
