Velma Ellert Obituary
Ashley – Velma I Ellert, 95 passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at her home in Ashley.
She was born December 10, 1929 in Hamilton to Floyd Musser and Lora (Kaufman) Lucas.
Velma worked along side her husband on the family farm and raised 8 children. She worked ten years in the Waterloo Elementary School cafeteria and also Babysat for ten years.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the church. She enjoyed canning, gardening and baking pies and cakes. She loved her family and was very proud of her children and all her grandkids.
Velma married Leonard E Ellert on October 8, 1949 in St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and he died October 29, 1993.
She is survived by 7 sons, a daughter and their spouses, Kenneth and Patricia Ellert of Waterloo, Thomas Ellert of Fremont, Dennis and Dianne Ellert of Waterloo, Duane Ellert of Fort Wayne, Joseph and Teresa Ellert of Waterloo, Marvin and Renee Ellert of Ashley, Gary and Teri Ellert of Auburn and Jeanine and Orville "Junior" Dennis of Hamilton; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Floyd and Bev Ellert of Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Sherry Ellert, 9 sisters, Reba Lucas, Opal Stoy, Nina Canfield, Alta Gettys, Vera Smith, Georgia Hartman, Ruth Hire, Wava Missler, Janice DeYoung and a brother, Arnold Musser.
A funeral Mass will be 11 AM Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo. Calling is Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM at the end of visitation. Additional calling is 1 hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 at the church on Thursday. Memorial donations can be given in memory of Velma to the church.
