Alice E. Engle

Alice E. (Vernon) Engle, 88, of Pottstown, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2025, joining her beloved husband, the late Gordon R. Engle Sr. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Burlington, NJ, on June 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Smith) Vernon. Known for her generous spirit and a heart that always had room for more, Alice dedicated her life to making others feel welcome and valued. She was the proud owner of Engle's Jewelers Inc. in Pottstown, where her warm smile and thoughtful nature touched generations of customers and friends. Her life was anchored by her deep faith, and she was a devoted member of Tri-County Bible Church in Gilbertsville, PA. Alice had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She loved to dance, spend time with friends, and celebrate every opportunity to gather with her family. Her kindness, generosity, and gift for making everyone feel at home will be treasured by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Cindy L. Stroble of Pottstown, PA; Kevin S. Stroble, husband of Terri L. Stroble, of Douglassville, PA; and Lonnie J. Stroble of Pottstown, PA. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Eric S. Hetrick, husband of Shannon Hetrick, of Collegeville, PA; Jason S. Stroble, husband of Sabrina Stroble, of Viera, FL; Kyle S. Stroble, husband of Elina Stroble, of Pittsburgh, PA; Cade A. Stroble of Metairie, LA; and Coltan L. Stroble of Arlington, VA. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Tyler Hetrick, Logan Hetrick, Emma Stroble, and Scarlett Stroble. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was predeceased by her sisters: Dorothy Stevenson, Betsy Matlack, and Merle DiPilla. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A memorial service celebrating Alice's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's memory to Tri-County Bible Church, 142 Buchert Rd., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Alice's life was a testament to love - love for her family, her friends, and the countless people whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth, laughter, and unwavering kindness continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
