Anthony Sorrentino Obituary

Anthony J. Sorrentino, 82, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Inpatient Hospice unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Barbara L. (DiCello) Sorrentino to whom he was married 61years. Born in Allentown, PA, Anthony was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Impeciati) Sorrentino. Anthony was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Allentown and St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Allentown. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Anthony's greatest joy in life was his family. He was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage and carried on the traditions, values, and love of family that were instilled in him from a young age. He never missed an opportunity to gather loved ones around the table for a meal, where stories were shared and memories were made. He attended Valley Forge Military Academy with his brother, Skeeter, and later graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School, where he met the love of his life, Barbara. Soon after school, they married and began building their life together. Anthony had a lifelong passion for vintage cars and music, and he especially loved dancing with Barbara at local social clubs, where the two became known for the joy they brought to the dance floor. Anthony worked tirelessly throughout his life, beginning at a young age alongside his father and brother in construction and excavating. He was a lifelong business owner, proudly handing out his A.J. Sorrentino Construction business cards to everyone he met. In his later years, he continued his entrepreneurial spirit as a partner in Castle Builders and Rascals Food and Fun, where he had the privilege of working beside his sons. He continued working until the age of 82 as a consultant, showing the dedication, perseverance, and strength that defined him. His vast knowledge of the construction industry, built over decades, led him to become a mentor to many in the field. Anthony was known for his warmth, sense of humor, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued. He loved the chance to socialize-with family, friends, coworkers, employees, or even strangers-and he had a way of engaging everyone in conversation. To know him was truly a gift. For more than 55 years, his favorite pastime was attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. He spent many years coaching for the Grandlawn Baseball Youth Association, where he became a father figure to countless young athletes. From baseball diamonds to football fields, dance recitals to school plays, cheer competitions, basketball games, soccer fields, wrestling tournaments, open houses, and Grandparents Days, Anthony could always be found in the stands, proudly cheering on those he loved most. Anthony's life was defined by hard work, deep faith, and an unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most. To his family and friends, he was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a man whose heart was as big as his laugh. He will be remembered always, cherished deeply, and missed beyond measure.
