Anthony Tornetta Obituary
Anthony James Tornetta, Sr., formerly of Camiel Lane in Phoenixville, passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on May 25, 2025. He was 93 years old. Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Patricia (nee Weidner); and children, Anthony J. Tornetta, Jr., and Carol Tornetta (Linda Kaufman). He is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Olszewski, and brother, Joseph Tornetta.
He was a man of many nicknames, "Glimp" to our mother and "The Cak" and "The Daddy" to his children. He had an unmatched ability to make something out of nothing. The Cak had a deep love for the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing. Whether he was casting a line in the waters of Stone Harbor or sneaking away to one of his secret spots in Avalon, we always knew where to look when he went missing around dinner time. More than once, dinner waited while we ran around, trying to track him down, only to find him peacefully reeling in the day's catch.
When he wasn't fishing, he was gardening. The backyard, a small oasis of every vegetable under the sun. We always remember summer weekends with him and Mom, the two of them elbow deep in tomatoes, putting up jars for homemade spaghetti sauce. He was a saver, a fixer, and a collector. If we needed anything, we always checked the garage, the attic, and the basement before thinking about going to the store. Somehow, he always had it. His treasure trove of odds and ends was in part a miracle, and a testament to a man who believed in throwing nothing out. His legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the tacklebox still packed away, and the shelves of canned tomatoes we remember. He'll forever be in our hearts.
