Betty Ramaley Obituary

Betty M. (Marazi) Ramaley, 76, of Plainfield Township, widow of Donald Ramaley, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, April 4, 2025, at her home. Born March 25, 1949, in Allentown, PA, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Margaret (Wodilla) Marazi. She grew up in the village of Sandts Eddy. She graduated from Easton High School, Class of 1967, and Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1970. She enjoyed being an RN working at the original Allentown Hospital. Betty married the love of her life, Donald Ramaley, April 17, 1971, and moved to Florida with him while he was in the U.S. Navy. She worked nights at Beaches Hospital and liked sleeping on the beach during the day. They moved home in 1972 and built their home in Plainfield Township in 1974 where they raised their children in a wonderful neighborhood of dear friends. She continued working as a nurse in area hospitals in the PACU. Betty loved gardening and was especially fond of her Supertunias. She and her late husband enjoyed camping, first in a pop up and finally upgrading to a motor home. They loved traveling to different states, but Lancaster seemed to be their go-to-favorite area. Friends were very important to them. They hosted neighborhood picnics and loved the families in the neighborhood. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 12 years and served in other capacities. Betty was also a member of East Lawn Social Club where she met her loving companion for the past three years, Don Gordon. She is survived by her son, Kevin Ramaley and his wife Paula and their children, Payton, Paige and Zoey and bonus granddaughters, Kylee and Kelsie Uhler of Wind Gap; her daughter, Amy Ramaley Rotzell and her husband Ryan and their son Charlie of Nazareth; a sister, Margaret Marazi of Emmaus; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband who passed away on October 8, 2015, her parents, and her wonderful in-laws, Donald and Mary Ramaley. Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, April 9th, in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Rd., Pen Argyl. Call Tuesday 4-6pm and Wednesday 10-11am in the church. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson Borough, is in charge of arrangements. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com. From Betty; "Geez. You know we are so so so busy with life, and it comes down to a few words on a piece of paper. How do we really capture the true essence of a person?? The passion for life they felt? The love of family and friends? The love of traveling and meeting new people: The mistakes they made and the accomplishments they felt in their heart? The joy they felt when they first saw their children born, and with each milestone in their lives and then the first glimpse of each grandchild. How do you put love on paper or tears of sorrow at the loss of a dear husband? How do you really express how much friends meant to them? How do you define the struggles, the everyday living and commitment to God and family? Gee, I am glad I am not around to decide this! LOVE YOU!!!!!" Oh Betty , how I will miss our trip to Lancaster to buy our flowers that we would plant in our gardens. We just talked weeks ago about the trip we would make this spring. As I buy my flowers, I will think of you. Condolences to the families. May you remember the wonderful memory she has made for you. Hoping that they will help ease your hearts just a little. She was a wonderful lady and had a great love and passion for many things especially her family.

I met Betty while working at Easton Hospital in the early 1970´s. She stopped by the Pediatric Department and laughingly joked about never wanting "any of those". So when she had twins it was really funny. I then worked in the Pediatrician´s office where she took Amy and Kevin. She was in love and so proud of her babies. She always had a big smile and warm heart.

Kevin, Amy and families,
I am so sorry for your loss. From the moment I met your mom at a Laleche meeting when she was carrying you, I knew we´d be friends. And then we ended up being roommates in the hospital having our babies almost 46 years ago and remained friends. My heartfelt prayers are with you in this great loss.
