Charles Gordon Obituary

Charles Joseph Gordon passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025. He was 84 years old. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susan (Taphorn); children, Charnee Genuardi (William), Charles D. Gordon (Christine), Jennifer Cipriani (John), Sarah John (Matthew), and Emilyann Massino (Robert); grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew (Mikayla), Tyler, Sarah, Emily, Yuji, Alexa, Monica (Andre), Vincent, Vanessa, Joseph, Grace, Lucy, Cecelia, Samantha, Sienna Susan, and Hailey; and great-grandchildren, Elara, Penelope, River, and Jasper; his brother, Howard Gordon (Margaret) and sister Mary Ann Gordon (Glenn McAdams). Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Charles Mead Gordon and Marion Carmella (Pellegrino) Gordon. Charlie grew up in the Norristown and Collegeville areas and was a 1958 graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School. He went on to enlist in the Air Force. Charlie was a Sears Service Technician for many years, and was a driver for McMahon Automotive Group. Charlie and Susan married in 1968 and they enjoyed raising their five children in Skippack Township. Together they volunteered many years in Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Pre-Cana, Pre-Jordan, RCIA, Theology of the Body Institute, and other organizations within St. Eleanor Parish. Charlie was active in Boy Scouts and continued as a volunteer with his son and grandsons. He was Judge of Elections for Skippack Township. Charlie was a member of the Men of St. Joseph, Skip-Perk Jaycees, and Antique Truck Club of America. Charlie was the most kind-hearted, genuine, wise, faith-filled man who was loved by all who met him. He thought of his children's friends as his own sons and daughters. He was a pillar in the community and a role model to husbands and fathers. Charlie's family wants to thank all those who have been praying for him and the nurses, staff and aids that have cared for him all these years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to St. Eleanor's Church. Relatives and friends are invited to Charlie's Life Celebration on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration, 200 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA 19401. A second visitation will be held on April 4, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St, Collegeville, PA 19426. Rip Charlie, you were a good man and a great patient. Susan, your dedication to Charlie was unwavering; you both were very lucky people. I will always have a spot in my heart for you and your family, Charlie. At godspeed

I love you, Grandpop.
I'm sorry it had to be like this.
I'm going to the wake and the funeral thinking I'm just visiting you in the nursing home like usual.

I'm digging up my childhood memories I haven't remembered in a decade...

We took walks outside in nature...
You taught me to play piano,
Though I'm still a beginner even now...
I'm sorry we have to say goodbye for the last time...
We enjoyed food from the restaurant and at home,
I hate iced tea, but you got me to like the raspberry one
We got to go to the car show,
I'm usually indifferent to cars, but I'm impressed!
Grandpop can make the mundane look magical.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to see you as often when I started high school and college...
...I was going through a difficult time...
You made me feel beautiful when my self esteem was nonexistent...
You made me feel safe when my anxiety was at its peak.
You told me that if my boyfriend didn't treat me right, just kick him to the curb.

...So I did, and found another
You made me feel beautiful when I couldn't see it in me
You were patient with me, even when I didn't start driving or work until my 20s.
You helped me learn to swim...
...and now I'm strong enough to join a swim team...
You were always proud of me.

I see the cardinals...
The crows and the eagles...
I know you're still with me.
