Clarence Rader Obituary

Clarence Lester Rader, of Norristown, Pa, passed away on March 11, 2025 at the age of 93. Born August 3, 1931 to the late Norman and Ruth (nee Hughes) Rader, Clarence was the beloved husband for 73 years of Dorothy (nee Dunnum) Rader; loving father of Linda Lobb (Jeffry), Richard (Heidi) Rader, Nancy (Ken) Huppman, and Christian (Laura) Rader; cherished grandfather of Erin Lobb Fidler, Kate Lobb Johnston, Stacy Lobb Priebe, Dane Rader, Kyle Rader, Brett Rader, Carl Huppman, Andrew Huppman, Seth Rader, Steven Rader; proud great-grandfather of Gracie Fidler, Sarah Fidler, Andrew Johnston, William Johnston, Jake Huppman, Ellie Huppman, Lily Rader, Zoe Rader, Madeline Rader, Isabella Rader, David Rader; dear brother of the late Norman Rader.
Clarence served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1953. He began a long banking career with Norristown Penn Trust, Commonwealth Federal Savings and Loan, and eventually became President and CEO of Peoples Thrift Building and Loan Association. He was elected to Chairman o the Board of Bank Philadelphia until his retirement in 2002.
Clarence served as President of the Norristown Area School Board and Chairman of Central Montgomery County as well as Norristown Area Elementary Schools.
In 2004, Clarence was inducted into the Norristown Area High School Hall of Fame. He was a proud member of First Presbyterian Church of Norristown for over 70 years. In his free time, Clarence enjoyed boating, fishing and playing tennis with friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Clarence's Life Celebration on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10 to 10:50 AM, followed by his funeral service at 11 AM at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike, Pa, 19401; interment to follow at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
