Daniel Joseph Smith

Daniel Joseph Smith, Jr. was born on October 6, 1966, and was raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jackson, NJ, and Budd Lake, NJ. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in California and South Korea. After his army days, he worked at AT&T for 35 years. Dan met, fell in love, and married (She did let him know that she was going to marry him) his best friend and true companion, Jodi. Dan and Jodi lived in the rolling mountains and woodland terrain of the Poconos, where they enjoyed the picturesque nature and outdoor lifestyle. Above all else, Dan loved his family and friends. He would always say, "It's not where you're from, it's who you are." He knew people from all walks of life and made so many memories to cherish. Dan truly had a great life and a great sense of humor. Most of the time, he had waaay too much fun! He worked hard and he played hard. Dan loved his motorcycles, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, target shooting, and fishing. And, for some reason, cats kept finding him! He shared sweet and funny times with Kitty, Tom Selleck, Lady Grey, and kitten JJ Binx. With courage, dignity, and sometimes humor, Dan fought his cancer battle. He was determined to "bring up the odds," despite his less than favorable diagnosis. He had this amazing will to live and he never gave up--never. Dan's love, generosity, and many wise cracks will remain with all of us who knew and loved him. Please join us for a memorial visitation at William H. Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322, at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025. Immediately following the service, all are welcome to join for a gathering at his favorite spot on the mountain: Woody's Country House, 4775 Route 115, Blakeslee, PA 18610. Maybe we can get the last word in now--but knowing Dan, probably not. And finally, one last "Take care, Brush your hair." Rest easy now, Dan the Man. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children's Hospital, Toys-4-Tots and Alley Cat Rescue (national) in Mount Rainier, MD.
