David Neidig Obituary

David Neidig, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and master craftsman, passed away peacefully at his home on April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 18, 1940, in Sunbury, David's life was a testament to dedication, service, and passion.
David graduated from Sunbury High School in the class of 1958, setting the stage for a life of achievement and commitment. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Radioman, 2nd Class and was honorably discharged in 1961. His patriotism and discipline were cornerstones of his character throughout his life.
Following his military service, David embarked on a long and successful career as a Machinist for Forg Flo and later joining PPL at the Martins Creek plant, where he dedicated over 40 years before retiring.
Outside of his professional life, David was a man of many interests and talents. He found joy and solace in his hobbies, which included laser engraving, woodworking, cabinet making, clock building, and stained glass. His hands were rarely still, as he was always creating or fixing something, often sharing his creations with those he loved. David also enjoyed landscaping and gardening, which reflected his appreciation for nature and the outdoors. His love for canoeing and electric gadgetry showcased his adventurous spirit and curious mind.
David's legacy is carried on by his daughter Valarie Berger and her husband Jay, his beloved grandchildren Matthew, Justin, Baylen, Connor, Alyssa, Riley, and Levi, his stepdaughters Tammy Fritzinger, Jill Colonna and her husband Isadore, and Dawn Belchunes, as well as his step-grandchildren Christopher, Jared, Alyssa, Nick, and Tara, and seven step-great-grandchildren and his loving companion Lucy Narvaez.
Predeceased by his late wife Patricia Neidig, his parents Belden and Nadine (Klein) Neidig, his sister Joan Mertz, his stepson-in-law Alfred Fritzinger, Jr., and his step-grandson Eric, David's memory will be honored and cherished by all who knew him. His life was a beautiful mosaic of service, craftsmanship, and love-a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. David's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
