David W. Powell, Sr., 67, of Nazareth, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township.
Born in Wilson Borough, he was a son of the late John J. Sr. and Evelyn D. (Weiant) Powell. David was a graduate of C.I.T. (Career Institute of Technology), Kesslersville. For more than 20 years, he was employed at Hertzog Hauling/ East Penn Sanitation as an assistant recycling and waste disposal technician, retiring early due to health concerns in 2017. He also worked for Star GMC - Buick as an automotive detailer. Unwavering in his dedication to serving his community, David proudly served as an active member and volunteer firefighter of Vigilance Hose Co. No.1, Nazareth. During his tenure, which spanned more than 40 years, he served on the fire police and was Lieutenant of the fire company. David also served on the Upper Nazareth Township Volunteer Fire Co. Additionally, David was a life member of Vigilance Social Club as well as a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth.
Survivors: He is survived by a son, David W. Powell, Jr. of Nazareth; a grandson, Daniel J. Powell of Allen Township; two brothers, John J. Powell, Jr. and wife, Diane, of Florida, and Dennis R. Powell of Nazareth; two sisters, Linda Hoffman of Berwick, and Barbara Skinner and husband, Mike, of Pen Argyl; along with many nieces and nephews.
Services: A Memorial Service in celebration of David's life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Services will conclude with Firefighter Honors.
