David Unser Obituary

David N. Unser passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025 at Above and Beyond at the Knights, Allentown. He was born on August 11, 1944 in Allentown to Dorothy (Snyder) and Robert Unser. Dave graduated from Emmaus High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during his long Navy career, four years full time and 20 years as a Navy Reservist on five different ships, achieving the rank of Operations Specialist, First Class, and was nominated and received the award of Sailor of the Year and nomination for Chief. Dave deeply loved his family and enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, riding bikes on the boardwalk with his boys. He especially loved train travel and trips west to California and the West Coast. He was an avid NASCAR fan and never missed a race. Dave was an Eagles and Phillies fan and never missed watching a game. In addition to his wife, Charlotte Unser, Dave is survived by his son, Dan Unser, and his wife, Maureen; granddaughter, Madalyn of Emmaus; sisters, Susie and her husband, Randy of California, and Ellie of Mechanicsburg; sister-in-law, Margie Ritter of New Jersey; brother-in-law, Carl Essig and his wife, Judy; cousin, Paul Gackenbach and his wife, Pat, and Sydney Unser and his wife, Linda. Dave was predeceased by his son, David Andrew Unser, and his sister, Janet Unser. Services: Graveside 10 AM Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Emmaus Moravian Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9-10 AM Wednesday in the cemetery. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus, www.BKRFH.com Contributions: May be made to a charity of one's choice.

Dave was married to our dear friend Charlotte. He always had a smile when you would see him. He and Charlotte had a beautiful marriage and family. He will me missed.

David, you failed to make your post during general quarters. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
