Donald Heebner Obituary

Donald Sykes Heebner, age 79, of Telford, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Ford) Heebner with whom he shared over 57 years of marriage. Born October 15, 1945, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George Kriebel and Ruth Charlesworth (Sykes) Heebner. Don graduated from Springfield High School in 1964. In 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and served until 1971. In 1971 he founded Franklin Security Corporation, a locally based electronic security system provider. Active in the industry Don was Regional President of the Southeast Pennsylvania Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, President of the Pennsylvania Burglar and Fire Alarm Association and a Director of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. He retired in 2006. Don was a member of the Conshohocken-Plymouth-Whitemarsh Rotary Club since 1984. During that time, he served as Club Secretary and Club President. He was on the Board of Directors of the Colonial Neighborhood Council, a local charity in Conshohocken. He twice traveled to Argentina for an International Service Project delivering over 1,600 wheelchairs. He served as Chairman of the Rotaplast International Committee for District 7450 and went on 7 missions that provided corrective cleft lip and palate surgery for over 1,200 children around the world. In 2017 he formed Smiles for Guatemala, a non-profit working with local doctors, nurses, and non-medical volunteers. Along with Partners for Surgery, a health care non-profit, they provided over 500 cleft lip and palate surgeries for indigenous Guatemalan children. In addition to his wife Diane, Donald is survived by his children David Heebner and his wife Susanne McMahon, Kristine Pongras and her husband Ryan; grandchildren Brynn, Cole, Kai Pongras; brother G. Kenneth Heebner and his wife Renie and sister-in-law Gretchen Heebner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Heebner. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where the family will greet guests from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Donald's name may be made to Smiles for Guatemala, C/O Lafayette Foundation of the Conshohocken Plymouth Whitemarsh Rotary Club by clicking here.
