Donna Hendon Obituary
Donna Keil Hendon, 80, formerly of Venice, FL, Lambertville, NJ and Milford, NJ, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Arden Courts, Bethlehem Township, PA after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Born October 15, 1944, in Newark, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Dominic "Smitty" and Theresa "Teddy" (Paolini) Rotonda.
Her husband of 21 years, Robert C. Hendon, Jr., passed away April 11, 2016.
Donna graduated from Barringer High School, Newark, NJ. Then went on to receive a B.A. degree in History from Kean University.
Later she returned to school for her M.A. degree in Counseling from The College of New Jersey.
She retired in 1999 from Middlesex High School, where she had worked as a guidance counselor. Previously, Donna was a History teacher at Irvington High School and a family therapist for Catholic Charities, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Donna was an active member of Frenchtown Presbyterian Church and Venice Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder.
Donna's laughter was infectious. She was a self-declared ping-pong aficionado and a master skee-ball player. She was a beach lover and an expert shark tooth hunter. Donna would talk to anyone, anywhere, on any topic and had no trouble sharing her opinions.
Donna and Rob traveled the world together– from Japan to Italy to Buenos Aures and more. Once retired, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would also join Rob to drive around their golf course, joining in occasionally.
Surviving are two daughters, Laura S. Keil, of Annandale, NJ and Marla Keil Witter and her husband Jeff, of Palmer Township, PA; and their father Roger Keil of Easton, PA; a stepdaughter, Alysha Jordan, of New Orleans, LA; a stepson, Robert C. Hendon III, of Nashville, TN; a sister-in-law, Joan Rotonda, of Melbourne, FL; and four grandsons, Devon and Dominic Witter, Tony Marrolli, and Miles Jordan. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Rotonda.
Services will be held at 11am Friday, February 14th in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Calling hours are Friday 10-11am in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Venice Memorial Gardens, Venice, FL. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
