Doris E. Hetzel

Doris E. Hetzel, 84, of Bethlehem Township, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 28, 1941, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Velma (Bisher) Hill.
She and her husband, Donald C. Hetzel, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 23, 2025.
She graduated from Pen Argyl High School, Class of 1959.
From 1959 until her retirement in 2001, Doris served as church organist and choir director at Lehigh Valley Lutheran churches including Grace Evangelical Lutheran, East Bangor, the former St. Paul's Lutheran, Easton, St. Mark's Lutheran and Rosemont Lutheran, both of Bethlehem, Christ Lutheran, Lower Saucon and Christ Lutheran, Hellertown. She had also been a private piano and organ teacher.
Doris enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and gardening.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nazareth.
She was also a member of the American Guild of Organists.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn Hetzel Budzinski and her husband Robert Budzinski, of Dillsburg, PA, and Karen Hetzel Pokojni, of Bethlehem, PA; three grandsons, Ian Budzinski and his wife Maleigha, Kevin Budzinski, and Luke Pokojni; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Marwood Hill.
Services will be held at 2pm Thursday, July 3rd, in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Call Thursday 12:30-2pm in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. A Celebration of Life will be held in St. John's Lutheran Church, Nazareth, in the fall. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
