Doris Jane Souders

1935 - 2026

Doris Jane Souders, née Bartman, 90, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Genesis Nursing Home.

Born on May 3, 1935 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Curtis J. and Rose M. Bartman, née Milkowitz. Doris was a graduate of Allentown High School Class of 1952. Following her graduation, she worked at Chelle Sportswear, but more than that, she was a devoted mother to 5 children. Doris spent her time preparing meals to share with her loved ones, singing and whistling, using her talent of knitting, crocheting, and sewing to give back to her community and those in need, and being active in her faith. In her later years, she picked up coloring and spent as much time as she could sharing memories and laughter with loved ones.

Doris will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth, wisdom, and a bit of spark to all who knew her.

Doris is survived by her loving children Linda L. Anthony, Carl C. Souders (Elizabeth), and Susan J. Zettlemoyer (Ed), as well as her beloved cat Jasper, along with many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by parents Curtis J. Bartman and Rose M. Bartman, née Milkowitz; brothers Joseph Bartman and Dale C. "Butch" Bartman; children Arthur C. Souders Jr. and Woodrow L. "Wood" Souders; and many beloved pets.

In Doris' final act of love, she will be donating her body to science in the hopes that she will continue to help those in need. Her legacy lives on in the strength of her family, the values she instilled, and the memories shared by those who love her.

A Celebration of Life to honor Doris will be held for family and friends at a later date.
