Dorothy Bynoe Obituary

Dorothy Eileen Bynoe nee Straker, 90, of Lower Nazareth Township, formerly of South Side, Easton, passed away Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. Born January 21st, 1935, in Christ Church, Barbados (West Indies), she was the daughter of the late Reginald Arthur Chase and Eileen Straker. Her husband of 33 years, Henderson L.O. Bynoe, passed away March 12th, 2003. Dottie retired from American Can Company, Washington, NJ. Previously, she had been a professional and award-winning chef in Barbados. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dottie enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, raising roses, bird watching, being outdoors and traveling. Her cooking was unmatched. She was a member of Greater Shiloh Church since the late 1960's. Dottie was also a member of Nazareth Lions Club. Surviving are her three children, Sabrina Straker, of Hatboro, Walter "Jerry" A. Straker, of Forks Township and Edwin O. Straker, of Northampton; nine grandchildren, Dr. LaKeisha Thorpe, Kyle Jones, Aaron, Bjorn, Trea, Spencer, Bryana, Hanaya and Jasmine Straker; daughters in law, Heidi and Gosia Straker, and granddaughter in law Jenny Blake; four great-grandchildren, Haziairh Jones, Lazarus Cruz, William Ortiz and Levaeah Cruz; sisters, Veta Sayer of England and Sonya Glasgow of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews from the Straker, Chase, and Sayer and Glasgow families. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Emerson L. Straker, on November 4th, 2024, and her sister, Leta Straker, in the summer of 1973. Services will be held at 11am Friday, April 11th in Greater Shiloh Church, 403 Pastor Fred Davis Street, Easton. Call Friday 9-11am in the church. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Arrangements are by the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Easton. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
