Edward Tyson Obituary

Edward E. Tyson, 92, of Center Valley died peacefully on 15 April 2025. He was the husband of Margaret (O'Rourke) Tyson for nearly sixty years. Born in Hanover, PA he was the son of Jesse V. and Bernice (Shriver) Tyson of York, PA. Ed served with the US Army in Germany (1950-1953). He graduated from Shippensburg University in 1959. Ed first worked for Commercial Credit in Baltimore, MD before embarking on a twenty-two year career with the US Department of Treasury, followed by seven years with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Additionally, Ed served in the US Coast Guard Reserve for twenty-eight years achieving the rank of Captain. He last served on active duty in Washington DC in 1991. While in the military, he received the Meritorious Service Metal, Coast Guard Commendation and Achievement Metals, and the Humanitarian Service medal. Ed was a life member of the Reserve Officers Association serving as National Treasurer, Department of New Jersey President, and a National Councilman. He was also a member of the Allentown Chapter, Honorary First Defenders. A member of Saint James Lutheran Church, Coopersburg, Ed is survived by his wife, two children, and seven grandchildren. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, request a donation be made to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance mycgma.org.

Captain, you are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
