Elizabeth S. Warsaw (Lee) of Center Valley, PA, age 100, passed away peacefully at home at 2:12 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Lee was born in Blenheim, New Jersey, in 1925. Her parents Pauline and Louis Simmons separately emigrated to the United States, and met and married in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up, she was surrounded by aunts and uncles who also emigrated, as well as her American-born cousins with whom she remained very close throughout her life. She developed a particular fondness for her Russian and Ukrainian roots and played the balalaika in the South New Jersey Balalaika Ensemble, with many of her family members.
Lee attended primary school in South New Jersey and then Nursing School at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a nurse on land and sea, and eventually became a private nurse for Jack Warsaw, who she married in 1998. Together they settled in Allentown, PA. Jack and Lee joined "Through the Lense", a Kodak Company travel group, visiting and photographing people and places in over 50 countries and territories though out their courtship and marriage.
Lee was devoted to her family and is preceded by her father Louis, her mother Pauline, and her sister's Anne and Dorothy. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, her brother Theodore (Nancy), her nephews Greg (Susan) and Robert (Vicki), and great nieces Rachel (Brandon) and Sarah and their mother Van, who will always remember the love and care she brought to their lives.
In addition to photography, Lee enjoyed baking, English-language tutoring for Russian immigrants, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. During her younger years, she had a strong pension for playing the stock market and was known for her constant "good luck" during family card games, scrabble and penny slots.
Lee took special joy in raising generations of standard poodles. She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in ensuring that one flower or another would be in blooming throughout the year. She also enjoyed a variety of birds and wildlife found in and around her Center Valley home.
This week in a private ceremony, Lee will be interned with her husband Jack Warsaw, in their synagogue's cemetery in Allentown, PA. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be organized for family and friends during Spring of 2026. Flowers are not permitted.
